The short articles are interesting and informative, covering astronomical trivia, history of astronomy, and recent discoveries. At the same time, there are some phrases that are made almost insultingly simple from memory, so probably slightly paraphrased - "The maximum number of eclipses per year is seven. I cannot see any link at all between this proposed new publication and Patrick's Yearbook. The book is a Ready Reckoner which will prove to be the cutting edge for the aspirants in cracking a competitive exam.

I cannot see any link at all between this proposed new publication and Patrick's Yearbook. There will be six inwhich is near the maximum. Their respective articles entitled 'Curious episodes from the observational history of the planets' and 'The Victorian transits of Venus and ' are as compelling as ever.

My personal favourite here is Howard Miles' Yearbook of astronomy. book of the Barwell meteorite of Christmas Evefirst published in Both of these publishers, especially Philip's, have massive 'clout' when it comes to placing books in highstreet shops and online.

You may not read every section or essay, but the breakdown of important events, monthly highlights, and sky charts alone are worth the cover price.

It first appeared way back in well over half-a-century ago and continues to be, as it was then, the main popular astronomy annual for amateur astronomers. As always there is something for everyone here and I can recommend the Yearbook without hesitation: long may it continue.
